Kumamoto University\u2019s Graduate School of Science and Technology (GSST) is now accepting applications for the IJEP Short-Term Exchange Program<\/strong> under the Environmental Leader Program<\/strong>, starting in October 2025<\/strong>. The program offers graduate-level coursework and research opportunities in English<\/strong> for a period of 6 or 11 months<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This program includes a monthly scholarship of 80,000 JPY<\/strong>, provided by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO)<\/strong> for up to 20 qualified students<\/strong> from partner universities. Master\u2019s and doctoral students from the College of Science are highly encouraged to apply!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Research project under supervision in a GSST laboratory<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Lectures in environmental science and related topics<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Required course: Current Science and Technology in Japan (2 credits)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Minimum 3 classes related to environmental issues<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Field trip, midterm & final presentations, final report<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Transcript & Certificate of Completion<\/strong> issued by GSST upon successful completion<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Eligibility Requirements<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Enrolled master’s or doctoral student at NTNU College of Science<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Strong academic record (GPA \u2265 2.30 based on JASSO scale)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Proof of English proficiency (test date must be after May 2023): TOEFL iBT \u2265 71, TOEIC \u2265 700, or IELTS \u2265 6.0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Non-Japanese nationality (including applicants from Taiwan and Palestine)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Must return to NTNU to complete degree after exchange period<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Financial need (not receiving other scholarships exceeding 80,000 JPY\/month)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

        <\/strong>Applicants are encouraged to explore GSST’s research fields and contact faculty members to secure a prospective supervisor prior to applying.
