Overview<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The College of Science, National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), in collaboration with the Graduate School of Science and Technology at Niigata University, Japan, is pleased to announce that applications for the <strong>Double Degree Doctoral Program (DDP) for April 2027 Admission<\/strong> are now open<sup><\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Participating students will be required to complete collaborative research under joint supervision, and earn two doctoral degrees upon fulfilling the graduation requirements of both universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Tuition Exemption<\/strong>: Under the bilateral agreement, accepted DDP students are exempt from tuition, admission, and matriculation fees at Niigata University (tuition remains payable to NTNU).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Travel Support Option<\/strong>: Applicants may apply for Niigata University&#8217;s &#8220;Traveling Expenses Support&#8221; option during application. Final awarding of travel support will be determined by Niigata University.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Application Process &amp; Internal Deadline<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Nomination Mechanism<\/strong>: This program operates strictly under an <strong>Internal Review and Nomination System<\/strong>. Direct individual submissions to Niigata University are strictly prohibited and will not be accepted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Internal Deadline<\/strong>: <strong>Friday, September 4, 2026, by 12:00 PM (Noon)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Submission Guidelines<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Combine all required application documents into a <strong>single PDF file<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Email the compiled PDF to the College Coordinator, Mr. Chen, at <strong><code>ptm105_9467@ntnu.edu.tw<\/code><\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Email Subject Line: <code>[DDP Application - Niigata Univ] Department \/ Full Name \/ Student ID<\/code><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Required Application Documents (Consolidated into One PDF)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Application Form for Admission<\/strong>: Use the designated form (with photo attached and signed).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Certificate of Master&#8217;s Degree Completion<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Official Transcripts<\/strong>: Master\u2019s and Doctoral (if applicable) academic transcripts in English.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Two Recommendation Letters<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>One from the <strong>Dean of the College of Science<\/strong>, NTNU (This letter will be processed by the College for candidates who pass the internal review).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One from your <strong>current Academic Advisor<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Overview of Master&#8217;s Thesis<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Overview of Research Achievements<\/strong>: Publications, conference presentations, offprints, or patent abstracts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Study and Research Plan<\/strong>: Form provided in the application package.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>English Language Proficiency Test Score Report<\/strong>: Original score report of <strong>TOEFL, TOEIC (Listening &amp; Reading), or IELTS Academic<\/strong> taken within the last three years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Certificate of Enrollment<\/strong> or Admission Letter for the Doctoral Program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Passport Copy<\/strong>: Page showing photo, full name, and nationality.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Critical Guidelines and Policies<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Prior Contact with Niigata Academic Advisor<\/strong>: Prior to submitting your application, you <strong>must independently contact and obtain consent from a prospective academic advisor<\/strong> at the Graduate School of Science and Technology, Niigata University. Your &#8220;Study and Research Plan&#8221; must be formulated under their guidance. Applications without a confirmed prospective advisor will not be processed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Early Preparation Required<\/strong>: Requesting official English proficiency score reports and recommendation letters requires advance processing time. Please prepare these documents early.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Strict No-Replacement Policy<\/strong>: Once the internal deadline has passed, <strong>no updates, file replacements, or supplementary submissions will be permitted under any circumstances<\/strong>. Incomplete packages will be disqualified.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Nomination Does Not Guarantee Admission<\/strong>: Securing an internal nomination from the College of Science grants candidate status for recommendation to Niigata University. Final admission decisions rest entirely with Niigata University following their document screening and interviews (conducted between October 14 and October 29, 2026).
