As part of our International Distinguished Scholar Lecture Series, Academician Shang-Cheng Hung delivered an insightful presentation titled “Glycobiology and Life,” delving into the diverse roles of carbohydrates in biology, medicine, and daily life. The lecture covered a wide range of topics, from the functions and applications of monosaccharides and disaccharides to complex carbohydrates, emphasizing their significance in cancer research, drug development, and food processing.
To enhance understanding, Academician Hung incorporated an interactive origami activity that illustrated the relationship between photosynthesis and carbohydrate formation, making complex scientific concepts more accessible and engaging. His presentation inspired attending faculty and students alike, broadening their academic horizons and encouraging interdisciplinary thinking.

“ 2025 Science Taipei ” brought together families and communities to explore science and sustainability. Highlights included thrilling science domino shows, popular science book donations, and interactive booths covering SDGs topics. Participants enjoyed hands-on activities promoting green energy, recycling, and the beauty of math. The event also celebrated the 70th anniversary of the College of Science, showcasing the strong connection between science, society, and education.
- 2025 Science Exploration Fair - Everyday Inquiry Sparks Innovation; Collaboration Builds Public Scientific Literacy

Guided by the K-12 Education Administration of the Ministry of Education and co-organized by numerous educational and scientific institutions across the country, the 2025 Science Exploration Fair – “Teach Me This Way, and I’ll Understand” grand finals took place on June 14 at the Gongguan Campus. A total of 1,280 teams and nearly 3,000 participants from both Taiwan and abroad gathered to showcase their creative science projects, demonstrating scientific literacy and storytelling skills rooted in everyday life.
- International Distinguished Scholars Lecture Series - Academician Chung-Pei Ma on "A Conversation about Science and Art"

The College hosted the International Distinguished Scholars Lecture Series, featuring Academician Chung-Pei Ma from Academia Sinica, who gave a talk titled “A Conversation about Science and Art.” Once a national youth violin champion, Ma later earned her Ph.D. in astrophysics at MIT and is known as a scholar who “researches physics with her left hand and plays the violin with her right.” She used Pollock’s drip painting to explain fluid instability, discussed the science of violin authentication, and highlighted how science and art inspire each other. She concluded by encouraging young scholars to stay curious and embrace opportunities in AI and quantum technology.
- 2025 National Lecture: Professor Bing-Joe Hwang Discusses the Challenges and Opportunities of Lithium Metal Batteries

Professor Bing-Joe Hwang, Academician from the Department of Chemical Engineering at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, discussed the challenges and opportunities of lithium metal batteries. While valued for their high energy density and potential in next-generation energy storage, these batteries face issues such as safety, cycle life, and manufacturability. He highlighted problems like lithium dendrite growth, electrolyte stability, and interface design, and shared solutions using innovative materials and advanced processes, emphasizing applications in electric vehicles and large-scale energy storage.
- 2025 KidWind Challenge in Asia

In response to global climate change and energy shortages, the world is promoting new energy policies and emphasizing nationwide energy education. The Asia-Pacific Energy & Science Education Association (AESEA) has invited energy and science education experts from both domestic and international fields in 2024. AESEA is the sole partner in the Asia-Pacific region for the KidWind challenge, which is supported by the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory. AESEA will assist in training and certifying teachers and teaching environments that meet KidWind standards. AESEA is dedicated to developing energy education professionals and advancing energy and science education in Asia.
The competition will be held on 11/1 and 11/2 in Jongjheng Hall of Gongguan Campus
