To achieve the 2050 net-zero emissions goal, NTNU has been selected by the Ministry of Environment as the “Northern Regional Net-Zero Green Talent Development Center,” collaborating with National Central University and National Tsing Hua University to form a talent development alliance. The center is responsible for integrating higher education resources in Northern Taiwan and promoting core training in carbon management, ESG practices, and more, with the goal of cultivating green talent.
According to the Ministry of Environment’s report, demand for green jobs has surged, with job opportunities expected to grow up to threefold in the next five years—placing them alongside AI as a key talent sector. NTNU’s training programs were fully booked shortly after launch, reflecting strong demand for career transitions in sustainability. The university has also set clear sustainability targets: a 50% carbon reduction by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2048, demonstrating its strong commitment to sustainability and leadership in the field.
