The College of Science, National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), has signed a Double Degree Program (DDP) agreement with the Graduate School of Science, Osaka University. Doctoral students of the College are welcome to consult with their academic advisors and evaluate their eligibility before applying.
【Eligibility Requirements】
Applicants must have obtained, or be expected to obtain, a master’s degree prior to enrollment, or hold a bachelor’s degree with at least two years of research experience equivalent to the master’s level.
Applicants must be regular doctoral students of the NTNU College of Science and possess sufficient English proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
【Program Overview】
Up to five students may be admitted each year.
The minimum research period is one year.
Students are required to pay tuition only at their home institution (NTNU); tuition at the host institution (Osaka University) will be waived.
Supervisors from both universities will jointly guide the student’s research.
Students must submit one English dissertation to each university and pass the respective oral defenses (in accordance with the bilateral agreement).
Applicants are subject to Osaka University’s admission regulations and Japan’s security export control review procedures.
【Important Dates】
By 16:00, Friday, October 31, 2025:
Submit the application to the Office of the Dean, College of Science, and confirm supervisors at both NTNU and Osaka University.
By Wednesday, November 5, 2025:
Results of the internal review will be notified by email.
By 15:00 (JST), Wednesday, November 12, 2025:
Application deadline for the International Physics Course (IPC) at Osaka University.
November 10–14, 2025:
Application period for the Special Integrated Science Course (SISC) at Osaka University.
February–March 2026: Interviews and admission results for April enrollment.
August–September 2026: Interviews and admission results for October enrollment.
【Document Format for NTNU Internal Review】
At the internal NTNU application stage, applicants should compile all required documents in order (the degree certificate may be omitted) into a single PDF file.
File name format: “OsakaU-DDP-StudentID-Department-Name”.
The completed file should be submitted by email to the College of Science contact before the internal deadline.
