Call for Applications – Tohoku University “Junior Year Program in English (JYPE)” (October 2026 Entry)
✳Program Overview
The Junior Year Program in English (JYPE) at Tohoku University offers overseas students an opportunity to take science, engineering, and agriculture courses entirely in English, without requiring Japanese language proficiency. It is designed for upper-level undergraduate students who wish to gain first-hand research experience in Japan’s world-class academic environment.
The core course of this program is the Individual Research Training (IRT), where students join a research group under faculty supervision to conduct research in their chosen field. In addition, participants may take elective courses in science, engineering, and agriculture, as well as Japanese language and culture classes to promote cultural understanding.

Important Notes
Only students who receive the College’s official nomination will be given access to Tohoku University’s online application link.
Once nominated, students must complete the online application to Tohoku University within the specified period.
Failure to complete the process due to personal reasons will be regarded as withdrawal, and the applicant will forfeit the nomination without the right to appeal.
