We are pleased to announce that the exchange program with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Cologne (UoC), Germany, is now open for applications for the 2026-2027 academic year. This program welcomes applications from both undergraduate and graduate (Master’s and Doctoral) students.
- Eligibility and Mandatory Language Requirement
(1) Target Group: Currently enrolled students of the College of Science (Undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD).
(2) Mandatory Language Proficiency: Applicants must provide proof of language proficiency at the CEFR B2 level or higher in either English or German.
*Note: As the UoC system deadline is May 15, please ensure you obtain your official score report by early May to avoid any delays. - Application Timeline and Submission Standards
(1) Internal College Deadline: May 8, 2026 (Friday) at 5:00 PM (Sharp). Late submissions will not be accepted.
(2) Submission Method: All application documents must be consolidated into a single PDF file.

The University of Cologne recommends a course load of 30 ECTS per semester.
Credit Conversion: European Credits (ECTS) are calculated based on workload.
General Ratio: Generally, 2 ECTS are roughly equivalent to 1 NTNU credit.
Recommendation: Taking 30 ECTS at UoC is approximately equal to a 15-credit workload at NTNU. Actual credit transfer is subject to the regulations of your respective department. - Important Disclaimers and Liability
(1) Student Responsibility for Uploading: Students who pass the internal screening and receive a nomination are solely responsible for completing the online application and uploading all required documents to the UoC system by May 15, 2026.
(2) Disclaimer of Liability: The College of Science shall not be held responsible if a student misses the deadline due to personal oversight, or if the application fails due to technical issues, internet connectivity, or incorrect file formats.
(3) Final Admission Authority: Receiving a nomination from the College does not guarantee admission to the University of Cologne. Final admission decisions are made solely by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at UoC. - Required Application Documents:

All students must pay a social contribution fee of approximately 350 EUR per semester. This fee includes the “Deutschlandsemesterticket” for local public transportation throughout Germany.
Estimated Cost of Living: Approximately 1,000 EUR per month, including rent (ranging from 250–600 EUR)
